Tools for Local Leaders

To help local policymakers and program leaders turn evidence into action, Opportunity Insights develops data tools that reveal local patterns in economic mobility outcomes and provide tailored resources to support strategy and decision-making. The tools featured here enable leaders to explore their community’s data and use it to shape initiatives that expand opportunity.

Community Profiles

Opportunity Insights’ Community Profiles are tailored, place-based resources that bring together what our research and data show about economic mobility in the 50 largest U.S. metropolitan areas. Each profile synthesizes insights from OI’s research on neighborhoods, higher education, and social capital, and highlights key statistics and visuals from our data tools.

Paired with practical insights to improve mobility and guidance on how to explore the data further, these resources are designed to help local leaders quickly understand the mobility patterns shaping their communities and make informed, practical use of the evidence in decision-making.
